Acceptable Items

What can I bring to sell?

  • All items must be clean and in good condition with no noticeable odor.

  • There is a limit of 300 items.

  • New or gently used costumes, cosplay, garb, reenactment, formals (Mardi Gras or prom), wedding dresses, tuxedos and accessories, eccentric / quirky / geeky / fan clothing, accessories, fabric or patterns to make costumes, and other items related to costuming. You can include décor, backdrops and props for events, theater, photography business, holiday or home.

  • The majority of items consigned should be for adults.

  • No real weapons, illegal materials, or R-rated items. Swords are acceptable if they do not have an edge.

Pricing Guidelines

How do I price my treasures?

  • Price competitively to encourage sales; consider donating items you’d like to clear out. New with tags items: we suggest you start at 50% of retail. Gently used: we suggest you start at 25% of retail. Think about what you would pay for the same item at a sale.

  • For grouped or multi-part items, tag together in one bag or box.

  • Each item needs a unique tag. Print tags on white cardstock. Use an inkjet or laser printer to ensure barcode readability.

  • Attach tags with tagging gun or safety pin to not damage the item. (No staples or straight pins).

  • Sellers that price reasonably and allow items to be discounted at the half-price sale generally sell a high percentage of their items. Marking to discount encourages shoppers to buy at full price.

  • Items marked for donation must participate in the half-price sale.

  • The consignor understands and agrees that any item marked “donate” on the tag will become the property of TM and will be donated to charity. Consignor will not be able to get items back.

  • Items not picked up by the end of sale pickup hours will become the property of TM and will be donated.

How to enter items

How do I enter my items into the system?

  • Enter each item/set into the system. This will create a unique tag and item number. Grouped items (e.g., a full costume with accessories) may be entered as a single item. Do not make tag copies.

  • TM will sell items only at the price in the online system and on the printed tag. Update details in the system and reprint tags for any changes—no handwritten prices or discounts allowed.

  • Sort items by Category and Size before entering them online. The system pre-fills details from previous entries (except price), making tag entry quicker. Category: Gown formal (long dress or formal separates). Gown cocktail (short), etc.

  • Using voice entry can be quicker.

  • Add detailed descriptions on tags to help prevent lost or mismatched tags. Select the correct category and list tag brand, size, color, & description.

  • Include waist size in the description. Details below.

  • Print tags on 60-67# white or pastel cardstock (not dark or patterned). Do not use regular paper. Up to 8 tags can print per page.

  • Use an inkjet or laser printer for clear, crisp barcodes (no dot matrix). Poorly printed barcodes won’t scan.

Prep & Tagging

Where do I put the tag?

  • Supplies needed: white cardstock (minimum 60-67#), tagging gun, safety pins, hangers, packing tape. Possibly ziplock bags, zip tie, rubber bands.

  • Use tagging gun or safety pins to attach tags—no straight pins or staples. Tags are removed at checkout. Do not tape over barcodes.

  • Hanging items:

    • Use your own hangers (hook to the left) like a question mark ? Hangers will not be returned.

    • Close all zippers, buttons, hooks. Make sure all in working order.

    • Remove any pet fur or lint or dust.

    • If your clothing is falling off the hanger at home, then it is going to fall off the hanger at the sale. Pin a ribbon or yarn hanging loop to neck or underarms to keep garment on hanger.

  • Where to attach tag:

    • Preferred location is the manufacturer's tag or at the underarm seam (right side as you are looking at garment) to prevent damage to the garment.

    • You can also safety pin tag to a buttonhole or zipper pull.

    • Do not attach to the hanger.

    • Do not pin through material if it will cause damage.

  • Accessories/Non-clothing items: Use clear packing tape to attach tags (no scotch tape). Place small items like jewelry in a ziplock with the tag taped outside, securely closed.

  • Grouped items (sets or multiple pieces): Place together on a hanger, in a bag, or box with one tag.

  • Shoes: Box or bag them, or secure together with a safety pin, zip tie, or rubber band, and attach tag to the sole.

  • Special items: Attach a “Let me tell you my story…” tag for items with unique histories or stories. Print tags on cardstock. Handwrite / type additional description on the tag.  Click here to download tag file.

Entering Clothing

what size to pick

  • Adult sizes vary wildly. Measure the garment’s narrowest part (waist) flat, then double it to find the garment waist size. Note stretched/ unstretched sizes for elastic waists.

  • Select the "size" on the tag to match the waist size, not the size on the garment label. This will allow for easier shopping.

  • Include the manufacturer's tag size in the  description plus the measured waist size.

  • Example:

    • Brand, tag size, color, garment description, W42”

    • Brand, tag size, color, garment description,     W24-36”

Entering Shoes
